In working towards its vision and objectives, the PPSF will develop a Programme of Action based on the following five pillars:
Pillar OneAdministration & Governance Programme
In order to function successfully, and to ensure accountability and transparency, it goes without saying that the PPSF will develop and implement effective and efficient administration and governance systems.
This will include financial management, human capital management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems, and communication and marketing system.
Pillar TwoSocial Empowerment & Transformation Programme
Based on the identified needs of a specific community or area, the foundation will, amongst others, provide:
Pillar ThreeEconomic Empowerment & Transformation Programme
The PPSF will develop and implement economic programmes to advance economic empowerment and transformation of women and youth by 2023. This will be achieved by, amongst others:
Pillar FourJustice & Security Programme
This pillar of the foundation will pursue the development and implementation of justice and security programmes targeted at women and youth. This will consist of:
Pillar FiveKnowledge Management & Stakeholder Programme
Last, but not least, the PPSF will develop and implement knowledge and stakeholder management strategies. Knowledge is power and the foundation is aware that sharing knowledge gained for and from its different projects will lead to further empowerment of women and youth. To realize this, the following will be initiated:
- creating, maintaining and updating databases
- creating innovative IT-platforms for knowledge creation and sharing
- creating face to face colloquiums to share knowledge with women and youth
- partnering with institutions for research initiatives;
TheConclusion
To feed the hungry and clothe the poor is an instruction for all of humanity. Stemming from many years of active community work and observing the ever-growing plight of rural women and youth in South Africa, the Pinky Phosa Solutions Foundation was born to heed this call on a larger scale.
A huge percentage of women and youth in our province, in the country, in the continent and certainly in the world, live in a cycle of poverty, inequality and unemployment. This dire situation worsened significantly as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
It has therefore become more urgent than ever before to face the challenges head-on and contribute towards changing the lives of women and the youth who constitute the vulnerable sectors of our society.
There is no doubt that women and the youth need to be empowered so that they can be self sufficient and lead sustainable lives. This is not a task that can be undertaken in isolation; it certainly requires collaboration with government, business, and the community in a multi-pronged way.
